Overcome The Fear Of Business Start-Up

I lead a lot of business start-up classes. I always ask why the attendees want to start a business? Typically people have decided, for whatever reason, to take control of their lives, pursue their passion and start a business. Great! The next step is to trust themselves, put in the work and create the life of their dreams.

There is one more very big thing…Push past the FEAR.

To often people allow fear to keep them from accomplishing their goals. This is especially true when is comes to something like creating a business. It is easy to become convinced that you don’t have enough money, time, knowledge. The biggest obstacle is fear of failure. This blocks to many from taking steps to take control of their lives and create their own business.

Watch this video by Seth Godin on “How To Conquer Fear to Start Your Own Business“.

You need to push past the thoughts that if you fail you will have horrible circumstances befall you because it just isn’t so. You can not succeed if you don’t try. If you did your best and failed then you probably came out of the experience smarter about business than you were when you started. This experience will make you more likely to succeed the next time you come up with a business idea and decide to take the plunge to start something new.

I guess the question you have to ask yourself is it better to take a risk and start or play it safe and hope that someone picks you out of a stack of resumes and gives you a job. It’s your choice, what will it be?
